About ForceConversion

ForceConversion is a unit converter for everyday, engineering and scientific units. It started with force units and now covers 77 quantities and 567 units.

How results are calculated

Every unit is defined by its official relationship to an SI unit, written as an exact expression. For example, the US gallon is stored as 231 × 0.0254³ cubic meters rather than as a rounded number.

Calculations use decimal arithmetic with 50 significant digits, not ordinary floating point, so results never show artifacts such as 0.30000000000000004. Rounding happens only when a result is displayed, and you can choose the display precision.

Automated tests check important conversions against values computed independently from the official definitions, and check that converting a value there and back returns the original.
