Electric current is the rate at which charge flows. Its SI unit is the ampere (A), one coulomb per second. Since 2019 the ampere is defined by fixing the elementary charge at exactly 1.602176634 × 10⁻¹⁹ C.
Electronics specs often use milliamperes and microamperes, while short-circuit ratings and lightning are described in kiloamperes. A current tells you the flow rate, not how long it lasts: a battery's mAh rating is current multiplied by time.
