Every unit below converts to every other one in the calculator. Values are relative to the base unit, the ohm (Ω).
Ohm quick reference
| Ohm | Milliohm | Kiloohm | Megaohm |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 Ω | = 1000 mΩ | = 0.001 kΩ | = 0.000001 MΩ |
| 10 Ω | = 10000 mΩ | = 0.01 kΩ | = 0.00001 MΩ |
| 100 Ω | = 100000 mΩ | = 0.1 kΩ | = 0.0001 MΩ |
| 1000 Ω | = 1000000 mΩ | = 1 kΩ | = 0.001 MΩ |
Among the 8 electric resistance units on this page, the smallest is the abohm (abΩ) and the largest is the statohm (statΩ).

About electric resistance units
Electric resistance is how strongly an object opposes the flow of current. Its SI unit is the ohm (Ω): the resistance that lets one ampere flow when one volt is applied, by Ohm's law R = V ÷ I.
Resistance belongs to a specific object and depends on its length and cross-section. Resistivity, a separate quantity, describes the material itself. Conductance is the reciprocal of resistance, so it is converted with the separate conductance converter.
Frequently asked questions
- How many ohms are in a kiloohm?
- Exactly 1000 ohms. A resistor marked 4.7 kΩ is 4700 Ω.
- What is the difference between resistance and resistivity?
- Resistance (ohms) belongs to a particular wire or part. Resistivity (ohm-meters) is a material property: resistance = resistivity × length ÷ cross-sectional area.
- How many milliohms are in one ohm?
- One ohm = 1000 mΩ (milliohms).
- How many kiloohms are in one ohm?
- One ohm = 0.001 kΩ (kiloohms).
- How many megaohms are in one ohm?
- One ohm = 0.000001 MΩ (megaohms).
